LOVELAND
Last night we were at a holiday party hosted by two friends of ours, Bev and Bev. Although I didn’t know it at the time, a friend of Bev’s just returned from Bhutan, a picturesque country between China and India. Prior to our looking at footage of her trip, we gathered in a circle. I sat next to my wife, Annie and youngest daughter, Savanna.
Before I sat down, I noticed a CD Jacket, Loveland, by Jai Uttal. This music was described as music for dreaming and awakening. As we went around in a circle, I listened to others express what they were grateful for. For many it was their health. For others it was a special relationship or the love of their life. For Savanna it was her yoga practice. I thought about what it was for me at that moment. I thought about how it was all perfect. I expressed gratitude for the synchronicity in my life.
Savanna did some baby sitting for Jai Uttal. I thought about how important music is in our life. I also thought about how important dreaming is. For many years I dreamed about meeting my soulmate. It was 1983.
My friend Kent had just moved to Colorado. On a trip back to Marin, he invited me to have breakfast with him. At we were leaving the cafe, he suggested that I come visit him. So I did.
And he lived in Loveland, a magical town near Boulder. With its many lakes and mountain ranges, I continued to dream and awaken. It was there back in 1983, that I met my wife Annie. And here we are today, listening to Jai Uttal’s CD, Loveland.
Whatever it is, don’t give up. Keep the dream alive.
