TURN YOUR THINKING AROUND
The caller said I realize it’s a self esteem issue. And I postulated whether there was a relationship between that and one’s confidence.
Your self esteem issues began in childhood and still run your life. But the good news is that you are not alone. Everyone including myself has these issues. The only question is to what degree do we have them. The self esteem stuff really shows up in relationships…who you choose as a partner…and how you want to be treated. It also shows up in the workplace…how do you value what you do…are you selling yourself short?
How do we turn this around? With some clients I suggest a few simple exercises…one is in the morning as you are in the bathroom…look in the mirror and smile and then say…”I really love you.” I look forward to doing this almost every day….sometimes I have a good laugh.
The other is to acknowlege yourself everyday. What I suggest is to come up with five different things….it gets you thinking in the right direction….they don’t have to be big things…learn to appreciate the little things that often seem very subtle.
