BE AWARE BUT DON’T DWELL ON IT
Yoga was late this morning so I could sleep in…but by sleeping in I didn’t feel like getting up and going to the later scheduled class. But I went and worked my way through it. Again I was going with a goal in mind which in the yoga world is considered unyogic like….so I’m not perfect. I am making progress although slowly…And then I went back to the house for my coaching calls.
Since I have been on the island which this trip I haven’t left the north shore. Today I went to Kapaa to run some errands. In the car I was listening to Al Francken and in between the news. The news can be seductive as the commentators on both sides are effecive in appealing to their respective audiences. What I realized in the car was that since I have been on the island I haven’t watched television…or read a paper…I am aware of what’s going on as I am connected to the internet..I get all the news…I just don’t dwell on it. And that’s what happens…we start to get sucked in by the news and the programs on television… It’s one thing to read about Lebanon and quite another to hear Wolf Bliizer or some other commentator right on the spot. It definitely affects your consciousness.
Have you ever gone on a media fast..no tv or radio or internet or newspapers. What would happen? What would you miss? Would it matter that you became aware of the news a few days later.
