CREATING YOUR OWN DANCE

I have been continuing with the salsa challenge and like what’s happening…But I also have a desire to go to the next level and don’t feel i’m quite ready…So i have become comfortable in the beginning class. So I guess you could say it’s not the right time.

And then last week, a few people in the class invited us to Rancho Nicasio to hear a hot salsa band. I was somewhat reluctant because I felt that I needed more time to bring my level up so I didn’t commit to going. But when the third person asked me if I was going, all within a period of a day and I got a call that afternoon, it was difficult to say no.

So I went and I did feel uncomfortable in the beginning. I had a glass of wine and sat back and watched. I noticed that most people were doing their own dance and it wasn’t really salsa yet it seemed that they were really enjoying themselves. So I got out there and let go of the form and had a good time. Sometimes you just have to let go of the structure and see what happens.

Structure is important to give you a framework to build upon but eventually you have to find your freedom within the stucture. I let go and felt the dance and created my own version….it wasn’t salsa but so what. I just got back from class tonight and was back to basics but experienced it in a new way.
