John who was teaching the Salsa classes wasn’t there again…Instead, Mark, the owner of the studio taught the class. It was different and it moved faster. What I noticed was that I was able to keep up with the class. I had a good feeling for the rhythm. My confidence level increased and when we learned a new dance I was able to handle the new complexities.

With this new found confidence I started to again wonder what was possible. It was fun and I am looking forward to the next class. Thought about going on Wednesday but had a conflict on my schedule and didn’t feel compelled to go.

I realized how my mindset gets in the way of my learning. Last week in the Wed class I felt overwhelmed instead of lookng at what the next step required. And because of this state of overwhem I couldn’t learn anything new.

It’s amazing how our thinking limits us. I have more faith in the Monday teachers and feel like they care more. Whereas at the other studio it seemed that the teachers felt like you either got it or you didn’t.

That may be true or it may not be true. But it was my belief and because of that it was difficult for me to learn from her. So it is with other parts of our lives. What about your life….What are your beliefs that prevent you from fully enjoying yourself? What are your attitudes and beliefs that prevent you from being fully present?

I am a firm believer that it is our attitudes that determine our ability to fully enjoy our lives. The next time you are in a funk or aren’t enjoying yourself, look at your attitudes and belifs. If you are convinced that life sucks it probably will suck and if you believe that life is fun it will be. Be playful.
